Back by popular demand.

This month the Amador Democrats will again be presenting the movie, “Sing Your Song“.  The movie will be shown Friday, April 10, 2015 at 6:30 PM at the home of Helen Page (304 Court Street, Jackson, CA.)
Told with a remarkable sense of intimacy, visual style and musical panache, Susanne Rostock’s inspiring biographical documentary SING YOUR SONGsurveys the life and times of singer/actor/activist Harry Belafonte.  From his rise to fame as a singer and his experiences touring a segregated country to his provocative crossover into Hollywood, Belafonte’s groundbreaking career personifies the American civil rights movement.  Rostock reveals Belafonte as a tenacious hands-on activist who worked intimately with Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., mobilized celebrities for social justice, participated in the struggle against apartheid in South Africa and took action to counter gang violence, prisons and the incarceration of youth.
Because of his beliefs, Belafonte drew unwarranted invasions by the FBI into both his personal life and career, which led to years of struggle.  But an indomitable sense of optimism motivates his path even today as he continues to ask, “What do we do now?”  His example may very well inspire you to action.
Please join us for this inspirational film.

Please mark your calendars.  This Saturday, Amador Democrats are proud to present the movie “Unmanned: America’s Drone Wars“.

This movie will be presented at the Amador Democrats headquarters at 829 Highway 49/88 in Jackson (across from Poor Man’s Bronze) on Saturday, January 17th at 1:00 PM.

Unmanned: America’s Drone Wars investigates the impact that U.S. drone strikes have across the globe.  The film reveals the realities of drone warfare — the violation of international law, the loss of life, the far-reaching implications for the communities that live under drones and the resulting repercussions the United States faces.  The question for discussion is: Does drone strikes create more instability than peace?  What will America’s reaction be when terrorist start using drone’s to attack us?

Please join us for his fascinating look at Americas foreign policy.

If you have any questions, please give me a call.

In Peace,
